  • Jesse Hutcher

    Jesse Hutcher

    PARTNER

    Jesse Hutcher is a Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer of Derby Copeland Capital. Mr. Hutcher is responsible for investment strategy, underwriting, and business development for the firm. In this role, Mr. Hutcher has overseen the investment of over $450 million of capital across Derby’s various debt and equity platforms, secured by real estate valued at approximately $1.1 billion in the New York City MSA. Before forming Derby Copeland Capital, Mr. Hutcher served as Director at Cushman & Wakefield where he performed underwriting and provided consulting services for several prominent NYC investment funds and owners. Based upon this representation, he was recognized as one of Commercial Observer’s 30 under 30. Prior to Cushman & Wakefield, Mr. Hutcher started his career with Somerset Properties, a private, full-service real estate and operating company. Mr. Hutcher attended NYU Stern School of Business and graduated Summa cum Laude from Binghamton University. Mr. Hutcher is an active member of the Real Estate Board of New York.

  • Daniel Kaufman

    Daniel Kaufman

    CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

    Daniel Kaufman is the Chief Financial Officer of Derby Copeland Capital and has served in this position since June 2020. As CFO, Mr. Kaufman has taken on a wide variety of responsibilities, including, but not limited to, loan servicing, construction requisition management, investor financial updates, payroll, and all tax-related matters, including oversight of filing the tax returns. Before joining Derby Copeland Capital, Mr. Kaufman was Director of Finance at North American Soccer League where he reported directly to the Commissioner, served on the Finance Committee, reported to the Board of Governors and managed all NASL financials. Previously, Mr. Kaufman worked at various accounting firms. Mr. Kaufman holds an M.B.A. from Fordham University Gabelli School of Business, a B.A. from Binghamton University, and is a certified public accountant (CPA).

    CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

    Steve Spanolios is the Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel of Derby Copeland Capital and has extensive experience in secured financing, real estate, and corporate governance. Prior to joining Derby Copeland Capital, Mr. Spanolios was a member of the Corporate and Securities Department of Davidoff Hutcher & Citron LLP since 2007. As a partner of a prominent New York City law firm, Mr. Spanolios acted as an outside general counsel to a variety of lenders, real estate ventures, and other private and public companies. Mr. Spanolios brings a combination of operational, business and legal knowledge to Derby Copeland Capital and the benefit of representing the firm for the past six years. Mr. Spanolios received his bachelor's degree from Stony Brook University and his Juris Doctor from Touro Law.
